Making it go..

I believed in DiscoverIndies six months ago and I believe in it now. I do. I'm just learning how damn hard it is to make a business go with zero venture capital, no spare time and a whole lot of stuff I need to learn to put on the back burner to work at this.

So far I've learned that my network WORKS! Many, many thanks to the lovely Katie of www.iDesyn.net for her gorgeous logo. She's done other great work too so please check out her page. I will forever be in her debt. She saved my ass at the Arena District and she's saved it again.

I hope to have the site launched in two months with listings and everything. Stay tuned. Nag me if you must.

What makes the experience?

One of the things we hope to highlight with the DiscoverIndies website is a great experience. Tell me what makes a great experience for you? Is it based on price, ambience, quality, some combination? What rates the highest? Will you pay more for great ambience? Does great ambience offset so-so food? Talk to me!

Slogan Ideas

Hi everyone!

I have a few slogans running around in the vast cavern that is my brain and I need some feedback. Let me know if you like any of these or if you have a better idea.

1. Great Food. Great Nights. Great Adventures.
2. Extraordinary Experiences - Everywhere!

I need something that will tell you what DiscoverIndies is about. Any ideas?

What are we doing?

No Kidding! I woke up in the middle of tne night one week ago with the idea for DiscoverIndies.com. I love to travel and I love to eat (there's a reason I haven't posted a picture) and I don't particularly like the cookie-cutter, bland, all the food is the same chain restaurants. I also would love to find hotels that are independent and unique with high quality standards. My hope is that DiscoverIndies.com will become a resource for other people in my position - love to travel, love to eat, hate the same-old, same-old chains to find information about independent hospitality businesses (a.k.a. "Indies") that will let them create memorable experiences for either a night out, a weekend away or the vacation of a lifetime.

If you have had a great Indie experience, let me know! I'm always looking for a new one!
